The secret to achieving a glowy, illuminated (but not greasy-looking) complexion, lies in the perfect highlighting stick! Honestly, you don’t even have to be good at doing your makeup, to tweak this trick! It’s simple. Glide the stick over the highest points of the face: the top of the cheek bones, the center of the nose and right under the highest point of the eyebrows. Then, pat/blend the product with your fingers & voila!! You have an amped-up glow that’s perfect for any bridal event! The secret to achieving this perfect look is finding the right product. Check out my favorites:
1. Laura Mercier
This silky stick of candlelit highlight gets an A+ from this pro! Its creamy texture glides on like liquid velvet and is easily manipulated into the skin. The Sunrise Highlighter Crayon is almost invisible to the naked eye-until that perfectly placed swatch of light reflecting magic catches the light! Mmmm…now that’s some good stuff! Sunrise Highlighter Crayon, $32 lauramercier.com
Whoever said cheapies couldn’t hold up to prestige brands must have been sleeping when Maybelline dropped this showstopper! Strobing is a little more ‘wet’ looking than highlighting and can really illuminate the face giving that “from the inside out” kinda glow. But you don’t have to take my word for it- at $9 it should be in every girl’s emergency makeup kit! Master Strobing Stick, $9 Ultabeauty.com
3. Milk Makeup
Milk is one of the staples in my makeup repertoire! Its obvious, galactic interpretation of highlighting, with twilight pearls & meteorite powder, give a runway flare to the simplest of looks. And, the infusion of mango butter and coconut oils pack an extra luxurious layer onto your skin! Holographic Stick in MARS, $28 milkmakeup.com
Pro Tip: Apply directly from the tube to the highest planes of the face. Use your ring finger to smooth and blend! Body heat from the finger melts the products and removes excess sheen.
