When did you know you were falling in love?

Erika: “When we went to our first wedding together. We had just started dating and Ryan agreed to be my date for one of my good friend’s wedding in the Keys. Although there is something very romantic about a destination wedding, what made us realize we were falling in love was a blessing in disguise. Our flight got cancelled due to inclement weather and we had to rent a car and drive home. We really got to know each other during the 15 hour car ride back to Knoxville!”

Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?

“Glitz and glam. A classy and fun New Year’s Party theme.”

What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?

“‘Tennessee Whiskey’ by Chris Stapleton– it’s a soulful and passionate song, perfect for slow dancing plus ties our home roots with Ryan’s love for whiskey. It also wasn’t too long!”

What traditions did you incorporate?

“My mother cut one of my Dad’s blue button down, in the shape of a small heart and sewed it to the inside of my dress. We also had a New Year’s tradition, completed with a countdown to 2017 with, of course, a champagne toast while singing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ with our closest friends.”

Tell us about your grand exit!

“After guests enjoyed the breakfast bar, we met outside and were greeted with sparklers in the rain. We left the Knoxville Museum of Art in the back of my Dad’s 1924 Ford Model T and headed to the Oliver Hotel. Soaking wet, but so happy!”
