1. Pick a Unique Venue

This is probably the most important step to planning your adventurous wedding ceremony! Consider a location that has some significance to you and your partner, one that the two of you have always wanted to visit, or one that you just knowwill look great in pictures! Weddings are like real estate; location is everything! However, if the location isn’t designated for weddings, you might need to call around beforehand to obtain permission.

2. Dress Accordingly

Since you’re having a unique wedding, you might as well wear a unique dress! Something like this gold sequined dress is definitely unexpected for a wedding, but that’s what makes it so great! The unexpectedness totally fits in with the unusual locale. But most importantly, consider the conditions on the way to and at your chosen location! If there’s a foot of snow, you might not want a strapless gown, and if you have to hike 5 miles, you might want to leave the stilettos at home.

3. Invite Your Loved Ones… Or Don’t

Of course you want your friends and family to share in your special day, but you have to consider how adventurous this ceremony is going to be; can grandma handle standing on that rope bridge suspended over a canyon? For those who physically can’t make it to your ceremony, it’s a good idea to have an easily accessible reception so that all of your loved ones can congratulate you and celebrate your marriage. Furthermore, some couples prefer a more personal ceremony as well, so if you were hoping to have that feeling of intimacy, it’s totally okay to not invite anyone (except your officiant and photographer!) to your ceremony and just ask them to all join you at a reception. Do what makes you happy!

4. Enjoy an Unforgettable Wedding!

Enjoy your day with the knowledge that your wedding is truly one of a kind! Having a wedding in an unusual locale may take some work, but it is definitely worth it in the end. You’ll have memories, and pictures, that will last a lifetime, and wedding unlike one your friends and family have ever seen! Not to mention, getting married while surrounded by the beauty and greatness of nature is just about the most romantic thing ever.

If you are a couple who loves the outdoors, having an adventure wedding may be more up your alley than the traditional wedding ceremony. Besides the fact that your wedding is totally unique and gorgeous, one of the most exciting things about an adventure wedding is the breathtaking photographs you get. If you want pictures that will make jaws drop, be sure to ask Julie from Magnolia + Ember to be in attendance at your adventure wedding!
