For all you Great Gatsby lovers, whether you’re a longtime fan of the book or just Leo’s outstandingly handsome rendition of the main character, you’ll LOVE Jenna and Kevin’s 1920’s prohibition-themed wedding in downtown Nashville at The Horton Building! This couple knew from day one that they were going to get married someday, and we knew from one glance that we were gonna fall in love with their wedding, too! Jenna gave us all the details and some helpful tips below!

What is your favorite quality in Kevin?

“Kevin is the most hilarious, strong, sweet, loving, perfect man I have ever met. He has been through so much in his life and to watch him push through each of these moments with such strength has been awe-inspiring and has made me love him so much more everyday.”

When did you know you were falling in love?

“Everything was very immediate with us. As soon as I met him, I knew that he was the man that I was going to marry. I met him November 22, 2014, we moved in together in February of 2015 and got engaged July 22, 2015. It was an instant. We both just knew.”

Was the planning process as stressful as you imagined? Explain.

“It wasn’t exactly more stressful than I imagined, but it was very stressful and very time consuming. I had a new job in the music industry in Nashville and in the last few months before the wedding time management was definitely difficult! It always felt like there wasn’t enough hours in the day to get everything that needed to be completed!”

What traditions did you incorporate?

“We didn’t really do any special traditions for our wedding. Neither of us are religious, and we really just wanted to make sure that the day was focused on us and all of the people that played a huge part in our relationship.”

Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?

“The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books so it was a Gatsby/prohibition era wedding. My mom and I spent hours upon hours finding actual prohibition era place settings and vases, bowls and chandeliers. Every piece at every table was different and special. My mom did such an amazing job finding each and every piece. It absolutely made our wedding so unique and special.”

Do you have any budget cut regrets?

“I regret not writing my own vows. I went to school for writing but when it came down to the time of figuring out our vows, it was so overwhelming to write anything down.”

What would you recommend to every bride-to-be?

“I think having a really great support system throughout all of the planning and the actual wedding was my saving grace. I was so fortunate to have my mom help me through every step of the way. She absolutely went above and beyond what I thought would be possible to make my day absolutely magical.”

What was the most memorable moment?

“Definitely the moment I first saw him standing at the altar before my father and began walking down the aisle. It was one of those moments that just took my breath away knowing that this was the start of the next chapter of my life.”

What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?

“‘Stay’ by Christina Grimmie (originally by Rihanna and Mikky Ekko). Music has played a huge part in our relationship. The first concert that we went to together was one where Mikky Ekko had sang that song. Kevin worked for a traveling flooring company at the time and it felt like I would see him for a few days and then he would have to leave and all that I would want for him to do was just stay. We chose the Christina Grimmie version because her version was so beautiful that I needed it to be incorporated in my wedding as a sort of tribute to her and all of the people that had been affected by gun violence.”

Tell us about your grand exit!

“We got married in downtown Nashville so when the reception was over all of our guests stood outside against the backdrop of the bustling city holding sparklers. It was absolutely beautiful, magical, the perfect ending to the best day of my life.”
