How To Prepare Your Skin For Your Honeymoon

February 21, 2018 Pink Lady Julie

You’ve likely spent lots of time, money, and energy ensuring that your skin is in tip-top shape for your wedding day, but you want to have the picture-ready skin for your honeymoon too! This is possible with a little bit of preparation and planning in advance, and we’ve compiled 6 tips to help you absolutely glow on your honeymoon.

1. Drink Water

We know you’ve heard this one a million times, but it is worth repeating! Staying hydrated is one of the absolute best things you can do for your skin. However, you have to remember that this is something that works over time. You can’t expect to start drinking water a week before your honeymoon and have perfect skin, you really have to start months in advance! Buy a reusable water bottle and keep it with you; on your desk, your nightstand, in your car, etc. Just having it in front of you will help you be motivated to drink more. If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy the taste of water, try spicing it up with a splash of lemon or other fruit juices.

2. Eat Healthy

Just like drinking water, eating food that is healthy and nourishing is vital for good skin. And, like drinking water, you need to start doing this in advance! Try to eat a balanced diet that includes some of the best foods for healthy skin: dark leafy greens, eggs, fruit, and fish. Find some ways to include the skin powerhouse foods into your regular diet so it’s easier to keep up with; a crash diet is hard to keep up with and not always the healthiest option!

3. Choose Products Wisely

The best skincare products are the products that work for you. Everyone has different ideas on what products to use, but there isn’t one end-all product that works for everybody! Give yourself the time to find skincare products that do what you need them to do, and then stick to those products. However, do be aware of the warning label on some; if you’re going to honeymoon in a tropical location, certain ingredients, like benzoyl peroxide, can make you more sensitive to the sun.

4. Protect Yourself From The Sun

Your mother was right: you have to wear sunscreen! Sunscreen needs to become part of your daily routine before your wedding and honeymoon, and it’s even more important to wear on your honeymoon if you’re going somewhere warm and sunny! The sun is one of the most damaging things for your skin, so invest in a good daily moisturizer with SPF, and wear it every single day!

5. Avoid Makeup

You probably won’t want to completely cut makeup out of your daily life, but trying to avoid it whenever possible is a great way to give your skin a healthy boost. Try to have makeup-free weekends to give your skin a break, and it will certainly thank you! On that note, remembering to always remove your makeup at night is so important if you want clear and healthy skin. Set a pack of makeup remover wipes on your nightstand so that even on the nights that you’re just too tired to wash your face, you can easily wipe your makeup off.

6. Find a Routine

Routine is an important aspect of skincare. In addition to finding products that work, you have to be sure to use them! Sometimes getting into a routine is difficult, but it really is one of the best ways to ensure that your skin is the best it can be. Additionally, you have to continue this routine even when you’re on your honeymoon. Don’t try to save suitcase space by leaving half your products at home; any sudden changes in routine can wreak havoc on your skin!
