How did you meet?
“The first time I laid eyes on my now husband was at a baseball game my brother’s senior year and they were playing Riley’s highschool. Riley was coming home when he tripped over home plate and my dad teased him without even knowing who he was. I ended up taking my chances on that kid that couldn’t stand up on his own two feet and it turned out to be the best decision of my life.”
What was your first date like?
“Our first few dates we just wanted more time together. On our first date Riley was going to school in Kentucky and was going to make the trip down to see me. As I was waiting, I got a text letting me know he was stuck in traffic and going to be a little late. Little did I know he was so nervous to meet me halfway down, he looked in the mirror and realized he had only shaved HALF of his face. The time he was ‘stuck in traffic’ he was really at Walgreens buying a razor to shave the other half. No matter how long we would drive around it just never seemed like enough time. Our first kiss, we felt the spark they describe in fairytales. The spark is real and it’s electric when it’s with the one you love. We both got into our cars after the kiss, screamed from happiness, and called our best friends freaking out. We didn’t even know we had both done this until months later.”
How did he propose?
“I remember him wanting to take me out to a nice dinner downtown. When we got there the Volunteer Landing Bridge was lined with rose petals and at the end there was the most beautiful set up and his aunt secretly photographing it all. When Riley asked the question and I answered ‘yes,’ I remember looking over the balcony and both of our families were there cheering us on. It was exactly what I had always wanted.”
How was your wedding planning process?
“Riley and I were engaged 2 years before tying the knot. Riley promised my dad that we would wait two years so that we would both be established in full time jobs and graduate from college before settling down together. The wedding planning process started right away. My aunt offered to be our wedding planner and I couldn’t be more thankful for how easy she made it. We would meet almost every week to get everything together that we would need. The one thing we decided together is the venue. Our venue holds a very special place in my heart. My aunt and uncle used to own a golf course called Executive Meadows and growing up, my father worked there so me and my little brother were there everyday. When I think of my childhood I think of that golf course. It had been shut down for several years, but my aunt and uncle wanted to offer it as a kind gesture. I had to accept, it was perfect! We spent every single Saturday and sometime more of those two years revamping the property. Choosing that as our venue was of the best decisions made. It turned out to be everything we dreamed of and more.”
“My first big bridal outing and event was The Pink Bride Show. There I asked my bridesmaids and maid of honor to be apart of our big day, and it also helped me to realize exactly what I wanted out of the day. The best decision I made was finding vendors I could trust. I had full faith in all of my vendors that they would make it the best day of my life and it helped me not to stress about a thing.”
Recap your big day for us.
“When I woke up on the morning of September 28th, I remember getting butterflies as if it was our first date all over again. I wanted to see my groom so badly I couldn’t stand it, but I knew it would only make it more special to stay away and hide until walking down the aisle. As hair and makeup was going on, the florist delivered my bouquet and that was the first cry of the day. Everything was exactly what I had dreamed of since I was a little girl. Windsor & Willow brought my dreams to life and the excitement was just overwhelming. The rest of the day started to fly by.
“I got most excited for when the photographers arrived and it was time to start with photographs. Photography was my number one priority for my wedding so I knew I had to get the vendor I had always dreamed of and that was T&K. I sit in awe looking at their work and longing for the day they get to be my wedding photographers. They made the day so easy and effortless.”
“My most memorable moment from the day was seeing Riley for the first time. It was a different kind of happiness. The type of happiness you get once in a lifetime and you want to bottle up and save to relive it for the rest of your life. Seeing his tears of joy as I got out of the car was the best moment of my life, knowing I’m about to marry the man of my dreams. Everything was so perfect I can’t even remember anything going wrong. The sky could have came falling down and I would still be in total awe of that day.”
What was your vision or theme?
“For our wedding we wanted an elegant and modern theme. We brought that to life by incorporating acrylic details that the whole wedding was centered around. Even our guestbook was an acrylic slab with our monogram that guests signed. The acrylic brought in that modern feel as the eucalyptus and deep mauve colors kept it very soft and elegant. Our invitations were also acrylic including our card box, ring box, flower girl basket, and details. Another detail that we were so excited to share were our programs. Our programs were personalized handkerchiefs with our bridal party customized on the front. These were for the guests ‘happy tears’.”
What’s the best advice you can give a couple planning their wedding?
“Slow down and take it in. The planning process may seem like the most stressful time of your life and that you’ll never get to that day, but it goes by in the blink of an eye. I wish I was back in my aunt’s kitchen discussing if we wanted grey or white tablecloths. Everything leading up to that day is worth every bit of stress you go through and so is that honeymoon trip!”
What do you look forward to most as newlyweds?
“We look forward to the life we get to build as one. The family we will soon have and the memories we will make along the way. This life is no longer ours to live on our own but together, forever.”
What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage?
“How easy it is. Loving your spouse comes easy when it’s the person you’re meant to be with. Riley is no doubt my soulmate and I believe we were both put into this world to love each other and when you realize that you can spend the rest of your life providing everything you need to make your partner happy.”
