How To Pull Off A Holiday Proposal

November 27, 2017 Pink Lady Julie

The holidays are the best time of the year! They are all about good food, time with family, reminiscing on past memories and making new ones. And what new memory is better than getting engaged?? We love the idea of a holiday proposal; they are memorable, you’re surrounded by loved ones, and oh how romantic! The time between Thanksgiving and New Years is the most popular for getting engaged, but there are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to pulling off a holiday proposal. Read ahead for our six tips to the romantic proposal of a lifetime!

1. Get the Ring

Of course you know that to propose you need to get a ring first, but make sure you get it properly sized as well! Once you propose, your S.O. will want to show that beautiful rock to all their friends and family, so having to take it away for sizing can be disappointing. Make sure you confirm ring size prior to the proposal so that everything goes smoothly!

2. Set the Scene

When it comes to a holiday proposal, your setting and preparation is key. One great tip is to consider each of the five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Decorate the space, turn on some holiday background music, grab a soft blanket to cuddle up with, light some candles and provide hot cocoa or apple cider. Voilà, a warm and romantic setting for your holiday proposal!

3. Take Notes, But Don’t Copy

Like I said, the holiday season is the number one most popular time for proposals. That means your social media feeds are going to be absolutely filled with great proposals, and you will certainly get some inspiration from them! That is great, but be sure to only take inspiration, not the whole shebang. Your partner will want to tell the story of their engagement for the rest of their life; you want it to be unique and special!

4. Incorporate Your Favorite Holidays

If you’re proposing during the holiday season, it makes sense to incorporate your favorite holiday into the proposal! The possibilities are endless, and they make for great memories and even greater pictures!

5. Consider Including Family

Holidays are often spent with family, which is one reason they are so wonderful! When doing a holiday proposal, consider including your soon-to-be fiancee’s family in the plans. Take into account your S.O.’s personality; would they prefer a private proposal that could then be shared with the family waiting anxiously in the next room over, or would they love if you got down on one knee right in the middle of your Thanksgiving meal? Both are wonderful options that allow all your loved ones to be included in this special moment!

6. Go For It!

You’ve got the ring, you’ve made the plans, and your families are ready. Now all that’s left is the actual proposal! Take a deep breath, relax, and be happy knowing that you are about to spend the rest of your life with someone you love. That is what a proposal is all about!

The holiday season is a magical time of year, and that magic plus a proposal equals the most romantic moment imaginable! We are so in love with the idea of proposing during the holidays, and hopefully this list has given you all the tips you need to pull of your perfect holiday proposal!
