Just in time for Halloween, this wedding is a real treat with no tricks! With the bride being a designer, the details of the day were totally unique and fit the couple’s vision to a T. Their moody boho chic meets Southwest vibe is brimming with inspiration, and we can’t get enough! Not to mention, Kelsey Prater Photography’s perfectly captured photos! Keep scrolling to read all about it from Kelli and fall in love like we did!
How did you meet?
“Kendall and I met about a year before we started dating. We became friends on Facebook, and not much happened other than us liking each other’s weird song lyric statuses until about a year later when we met again on a mission trip. We have been together ever since, and were married on the 7th year anniversary of that trip!”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“I think we both knew within the first couple of days, which sounds crazy when you’re seventeen! But it just felt right, and special, and crazy! And we really know how lucky we are to have found each other so young, and to have been able to grow beside each other all of these years with forever ahead.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
“I can’t pick a favorite quality in Kendall. He can make friends with anyone, he’s the life of the party, he’d die for the people he loves, strangers too, and he brings light to the dark.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“We went for bohemian and southwestern vibes. We wanted the day to just feel cool, different, and very us. Kendall’s passion is wildlife, and I grew up riding and showing horses, and I think the aesthetics of our wedding day really felt like a true blend of our styles. Everything was beautiful!”
How about your dress or attire?
“I love my dress! And I loved Kendall’s attire! I pretty much knew that I wanted to be a Rue de Seine bride from the moment I discovered the designer a few years ago. Everything they create is so unique and ethereal and bohemian. I wanted something boho and elegant and super different, but I still wanted to feel like a bride, and that dress was the one! After I found it, I knew I wanted Kendall to feel as special in his attire as I did in my gown. He looks so handsome in all black, and I think his bolo tie and black ostrich boots were some awesome elements that were really true to him.”
What traditions did you incorporate?
“Our wedding day wasn’t very traditional, but we did include some traditional elements! We did break tradition and see each other before the ceremony, but we’re so glad we did. For our vows, our officiant incorporated very traditional verbiage, but Kendall and I also wrote our own vows to each other in addition to that. We had the traditional first dances, but we skipped a garter and bouquet toss. And when it came to who would walk me down the aisle, I wanted that moment with my dad, but I couldn’t imagine it without my mom, either. The Quarry has this beautiful long path into the Canyon where our ceremony took place. So my dad walked with me along the path, and my mom met us at the aisle and walked with us the rest of the way to Kendall, and that was very special to me.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“I think the most memorable moment was during the ceremony. Rain was inevitable, so we rented a clear tent so that we could still be married in the rock canyon, but it didn’t really start raining until the ceremony began. The soft light was filtering into the tent and I was looking into my best friend’s eyes and holding his hands when rain started softly hitting the roof. It was so beautiful and romantic and it felt like a truly divine moment. It was an instant of serenity where I really felt the magic of what was about to happen.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“Our first dance was to ‘Settled Down’ by Mandolin Orange. We’ve never really had one song that was just our song. But we love music and going to shows together, so music was an important element to us as part of our wedding day. We chose this song because we felt like the combination of the lyrics and the melody were so beautiful and true to us, and it’s fun song to dance to!”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“Our exit was awesome! We were having such a great time that we never wanted it to end. Kendall and I started walking down the line of all these special people who had spent the whole evening celebrating us, and they were cheering and waving their sparklers like crazy as we passed by and had an epic smooch. The energy of that was unreal. And at the end of the line was the coolest vintage Rolls Royce that my aunt surprised us with to take us home! We felt so crazy loved as we said our goodbyes. It was a great end to our celebration.”
Congratulations Kelli & Kendall!
