Speaking of cute announcements, Brittany and Coleman’s sweet proposal in Charleston will have you swooning for sure! See all of their story below and how Coleman gave Brittany the surprise of a lifetime!
Tell us a little about the bride!
“My name is Brittany Rivers. I moved to Charleston after attending the University of South Carolina for my undergraduate and graduate college to attend the Medical University of South Carolina. I am very outgoing, but a very old soul. I love anything to do with the beach or being on the water, traveling to the Bahamas and California, religiously and as a hobby, styling and studying fashion. My favorite things in life are my parents and mine and Coleman’s two dogs, Sailor and Tide (yes, they are both named with a nautical theme in mind).”
What about the groom?
“Coleman Allen, he currently works in Charleston for his father’s engineering company. He spends a lot of time traveling, at concerts and on his Scout boat with our two dogs. Coleman is also a very old soul and loves Paul McCartney and the Beatles. Coleman also has a passion for cooking and grilling, I swear he’s the best chef and his cooking is my favorite. Coleman also enjoys surfing and playing the drums with ‘his bros.’”
How did you meet?
“Coleman & I met in March 2014. I lived with three of my college best friends, in a house, we called ‘The Dollhouse’ and one of them happened to be dating Coleman’s best friend, Edward. The night before St. Patrick’s Day, My roommates and I had a party at ‘The Dollhouse.’ I was going to the University of South Carolina and Coleman was in Clemson, SC, USC’s biggest rival school.
As soon as Coleman walked in the door, I asked Edward who he was but tried to play it cool. Coleman eventually came up to me and awkwardly started making conversation…and that conversation lasted all night. Coleman ended up ditching his original St. Patrick’s Day plans and hanging out with me all weekend.
Then we proceeded to switch weekends in Clemson or in Columbia, still as ‘friends’ until both moved to Charleston, SC, where we continued to be ‘friends’ for a little over half of a year when we decided we would make it official and never looked back.”
How did he pop the question?
“Coleman was in an engineering seminar for the week, but we had made plans with all of our friends to get a house for St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Fripp Island, SC, since it is my favorite holiday, seeing I am from Savannah, Georgia. Coleman called me around noon the day we were supposed to leave and asked me to meet him and a few of his buddies from the engineering seminar for some appetizers and a drink. When I got there, I noticed it was only Coleman. He said that his friends had actually gone to a rooftop instead and we would just meet them there. After finishing eating, Coleman and I headed to the Ansonborough Inn’s Rooftop.
When we got there, Coleman told me to look at certain construction site that he was working on. When I turned back around, there Coleman was on one knee. He popped the question and I am still not even sure I said yes due to being so surprised. Then not only did, Coleman think to ask me to marry him the day before St. Patrick’s Day, where we had met years ago, but he also had all my friends from Charleston and my parents at the beach house, ready to celebrate their engagement. It was so special and will never be forgotten.”
Where and when do you plan to be married?
“We plan on getting married at the chapel that I graduated medical school, St. Luke’s Chapel, and having the reception at the Gadsden House, in downtown Charleston, SC on July 27, 2019.”
Has The Pink Bride helped you plan your wedding thus far?
“The Pink Bride has helped me come up with many inspirations for the wedding, there are so many little different details and information that I would have missed if I had not discovered The Pink Bride!”
